2025 Summer Intensives

Jazz Combo

Learn how to play real jazz in the same way the pros do: by improvising. This jazz combo will take the raw materials of any jazz standard—melody and chords—and use them to craft an original arrangement for a wide variety of tunes from the Great American Songbook. Never improvised or played jazz before? No problem. Take a chance and be amazed by what you’ll be able to do after just one week! Jazz Combo is open to all instrumentalists on any instrument.

Modern Strings

Breathe new life into your violin, viola, cello, or bass by grabbing this unique chance to play modern music on these classic instruments. Join this string ensemble that will be playing selections from “Eleanor Rigby” and “Over the Rainbow” to soundtrack hits and songs that you will choose together right out of the top 40.

Summer Intensive Program Details

Our summer intensive programs are designed for middle- and high-school musicians who are actively taking private lessons or playing in a school ensemble. Students entering grades 7, 8, and 9 should have at least two years of playing experience, and students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 should have at least three years of playing experience. These groups rehearse daily for three hours for one week in preparation for a concert at the end of the week. These groups are coached by our elite faculty who are subject matter experts. These half-day programs take place 9:00AM–12:00PM or 12:30PM–3:30PM five days a week during the weeks of July 14 and 21. Ensembles are available for students who are interested in improving their instrumental skills, musicianship, and listening abilities, all while meeting new people, building friendships, and having a great time!

NOTE: Limited spaces are also available for students who have the requisite experience, but are outside of the suggested age range. Complete the form on this page to contact us about the possibility of participating.
